History
Alan L. Newman graduated cum laude from the University of Georgia with a B.B.A. degree in 1980. He then attended Mercer Law School graduating magna cum laude and receiving a J.D. degree in 1983. Mr. Newman was admitted to the practice of law in the State of Georgia in June of 1983. Immediately upon his admission to the Bar, Mr. Newman joined the well known and highly respected defense firm of Long, Weinberg, Ansley & Wheeler. He became a partner in 1989, and continued to practice with that firm until January of 1997.
In January of 1997, Mr. Newman formed his own law firm in order to devote more time to the handling of catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death cases on behalf of individuals. Since that time, Mr. Newman has prosecuted, as well as defended, catastrophic personal injury, traumatic brain injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, product liability, premises liability, property damage, road defect, professional negligence, construction, real estate, and contract cases, as well as many types of insurance-related cases.
Mr. Newman has more than 26 years of experience as a trial attorney. He is a member of the Georgia Bar and is admitted to practice in the State and Superior Courts, Georgia Court of Appeals, and Georgia Supreme Court. He is also admitted to practice in the Federal Courts in the Northern District and Middle District of Georgia, and the United States Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mr. Newman has extensive experience in trying cases in Federal and State Courts throughout Georgia and has appeared on numerous occasions before the Georgia Supreme Court, the Georgia Court of Appeals and the United States Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mr. Newman has recovered judgments and settlements in excess of $30,000,000.00 for clients in recent years in personal injury and wrongful death cases involving trucking accidents, automobile accidents, products liability, medical malpractice and premises liability.
Mr. Newman is a certified mediator with the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution and is an approved neutral with the Supreme Court of Georgia. Currently, Mr. Newman offers mediation services through Henning Mediation and Arbitration Services, Inc.
